Tis the season to head indoors and out of that cold and blustery fall weather, right! And what better way to spend the time than with a bunch of your fellow photographers and photo enthusiasts learning the techniques that go into an awesome studio photography photoshoot! For this workshop we are going to be laser focused on two things:
1. Lighting! Yes, we are going to start from the very beginning and work on a number of excellent "one-light" lighting set-ups, learning how each setup affects our image. These are go-to "get a great image every time" tools every photographer needs to have in their toolbox. From there we will move to two, three, four, even five light setups! We will look at how each light affects the image and why you might want to utilize these additional lights. We will also walk through a whole bunch of lighting modifiers... what do they do? Why would you want one over the other? Knowing when to use the right tool can be more important than simply knowing how to apply it.
2. Posing! Even better, we are going to cover the whole "working with a model" thing. What to do, proper etiquette, ways to communicate, how to prepare, what to bring, everything that goes on around the shoot itself that helps make it a success. From there we are going to dive right into posing, everything from foundational principles to "lifestyle" to cool, crazy fashion editorial stuff!
This MeetUp is designed for all photographers and models, but we are really going to focus on beginning to intermediate artists this time around. Just bought a camera and don't know what button to push? Perfect! Come on down and we can help! Been shooting for years but just want to brush up or learn something new? Awesome! This workshop is for you! Just started modeling and want to learn the ropes and maybe make some connections? Yes, join us! Co-hosting this event will be the amazing Alexandra Renee!
You may recognize her from our first ever "Winter Forest" photoshoot two years ago. She has graciously offered to join us and share her incredible experience as one of the best models here in the Portland area.
And, as I mentioned before if you are a model please join us as well! It's a great opportunity to come and learn exactly how lighting and posing affects the image you are creating for the photographer, and it's also a great chance for you to share your experience as a model with our fellow photographers as well! And that is our real goal here, to come together as a community and share our experience and creativity with our fellow artists, whether that be a model, photographer, MUAH, etc.
Cost is just $55 and includes the 3-hr workshop and accompanying worksheets and lighting diagrams. Also, note that the focus here is an educational workshop, not a group shoot. Everyone will have a chance to work with the model but we will not be rotating the same way as our regular group shoots. Also, we will not have an opportunity for photographers to use their own lighting as part of the course itself, although we be more than happy to help you out with it either before or after the workshop.
Finally, if anyone would like to set up one-on-one photoshoots with Alexandra either before or after the workshop please let me know!
This event is rated PG.
Oh, and we are limiting this to only EIGHT models and photographers, so don't miss your spot!
This is going to be an awesome workshop everyone, and a great way to kick off our fall event lineup! I hope you can join us!
